Random Tuesday

-- Sarah has started climbing on things. A few days ago, I walked into the kitchen to find her standing on the table! She has also figured out how to use things as stepstools to get what she wants. She'll empty her toys out of the small plastic containers and turn them over or move the rocking chair's foot rest over. Today, I watched her come into the room with the "Don't Break the Ice" frame and try to stand on it to get up onto the futon. This is new for me as the older girls didn't really try to climb.

-- I was trying to kill a bug with a shoe this morning and Sarah was watching me. A little while later, I saw her carrying around a shoe in her hand. Ever so often, she would hit the floor, couch, coffee table, window sill, etc. with the shoe. When I asked her what she was doing, she looked up at me and said, "Bug!"

-- Emily won a bicycle today at the AR drawing. She also received a trophy for reading the most AR books in her school. She has read 366 AR books this year.

-- We signed Eliana up for gymnastic lessons yesterday. She can't wait! She was disappointed that she couldn't start them yesterday. She will be learning the floor techniques, uneven bars, vault, and balance beam.

-- Do I look like a smoker? I was waiting in line to pick Emily up from school last week. A girl who lives across the street from the school came up to my window. She asked me if I smoke. I replied, "No, I don't." She came back with, "Really? Are you sure?" What kind of a question is that?? Of COURSE I'm sure!! The girl goes back over to her house and in five minutes, a guy pulls up to her house, hands her something, and drives off. The girl yells after him, "Thanks for bringing me cigarettes!" I couldn't believe the girl tried to bum a cigarette from me when she only had to wait 5 minutes to have some delivered to her!

-- I had a scary moment earlier. Normally, Andy will call me sometime throughout the day when he is between flights. I hadn't heard from him all day and every time I tried to call him his phone was turned off. I was starting to get a little worried. The phone rings this afternoon and it is from the local police department. My heart just stopped for a second. I grabbed it up and answered. It was a Sargeant calling. Thankfully, he had dialed the wrong number.
