Round One of Swimming Done

The girls had their last swim lesson for this session this past Thursday. Emily is doing excellent! She went from being absolutely terrified of getting her face wet to swimming underwater in a matter of 8 lessons. She is going to get to move on to the next level in April.

I thought Eliana would be the one to excel and she has improved quite a bit. She was surprised to learn that she could actually float without any floatation devices on. She has completed all of the skills needed to advance to the next level. However, she can't swim very far without panicking. In fact, on the last lesson, she reverted to clinging to the side of the pool, crying, and clawing the lifeguard. So she is going to re-take the level again in April to hopefully become more comfortable in the water. She went from loving swimming to hating it and never wanting to do it again. I hope she changes her mind in the next week.

My First Crush Dies

I just found out this morning that Fess Parker, aka Davy Crockett, died on March 18, 2010 at the age of 85. His family did not release his cause of death. I had a huge crush on Davy Crockett when I was a kid and loved watching the movies. I actually almost bought them at Sam's last weekend.



Rest in peace, Davy!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope everyone remembered to wear green today to avoid being pinched! We started the day off with green pancakes and will be ending with corned beef, carrots, and potatoes.

Carpet Cleaning

We bought a carpet cleaner yesterday! With three kids and a dog, our carpet has sorely needed it for awhile. So Andy asked for one for his birthday. We did some research and after shopping around, we ended up with a Bissell Proheat 2X Pet Cleaner. We found a great deal at Sam's.



As soon as we got home, Andy moved all of our living room furniture into the kitchen and tried it out. It did a fantastic job! It got all of the dirt stains out where Marvin spends most of his time lying around. It almost got out the coffee stain. I'm hopeful it will be gone within the next couple of cleanings. Besides that, our carpet looks new so the money was well spent! It didn't take very long to dry either. By the time Andy was done with the room, the first half of the room was barely damp. He was able to move the furniture back relatively quickly. The girls were disappointed they wouldn't get to sleep on the couch in the kitchen. Our house smelled like soap which was pleasant. I'm excited to use it on the other rooms now...if I can only get them all picked up. I will have to just concentrate on one room at a time and hopefully have them all done before summer.

Calls Already?!?

The phone rang today and when I picked it up, the caller asked for Emily! This was the first time someone, other than family, has called asking for her. It was a friend from her class and Girl Scout troop. I'm not ready for Emily to be getting phone calls! Before I know it, she'll be getting calls all the time, including from boys! It opens up a whole new chapter.
